The tours

Small groups. Slow walks. Stories you can feel.

Each experience is private or small-group, paced for conversation, and built so that guests who can't see miss nothing — and guests who can see notice more.

Winston's story

Vision has very little to do with eyesight.

Winston grew up in Gqeberha, lost his sight to glaucoma as a boy, and followed the love of his life to Cape Town. When the pandemic cost him his call-centre job in 2020, he set himself a goal nobody on the continent had reached: to become a qualified blind tourist guide.

Friends started a crowdfund, Cape Town Tourism stepped in to cover his studies, and in July 2023 he led his first group down Kremer Road in Salt River — the launch of the city's Limitless Cape Town accessibility movement.

"Art is a powerful form of communication; it speaks volumes."

  • ChildhoodBorn partially sighted in Gqeberha; fully blind by his early teens.
  • 2020Retrenched during the pandemic — and starts planning a new path.
  • Jul 2023Qualifies as a guide and runs his first Salt River street-art tour.
  • 2025Out of Sight Tours sits at the heart of Limitless Cape Town, with sensory, wine and city tours in development.

Rooted in the Eastern Cape

Before Cape Town, there was Gqeberha.

Winston grew up in Nelson Mandela Bay, learning to read the world by sound, touch and the salt in the air. The Eastern Cape shaped the storyteller you'll walk with.

The experience

Four ways to see without looking.

Winston navigates by counting steps and lampposts, then repaints each artwork in words. You'll leave seeing Cape Town differently — literally.

Listen

Every mural told through its artist, its message and its neighbourhood — plus QR audio recorded in Winston's own voice.

Touch

Braille touchpoints installed beside the murals and at Cape Town's yellow frames let every guest read the city by hand.

Taste

Salt River's eateries and local flavour along the way — and a winelands tasting experience on the horizon.

Walk

An easy-paced street route chosen for its density of art and ease of navigation. Guide dogs are part of the family here.
